LTL or Partial Truck Load
LTL or less than truckload shipping refers to the transportation of cargo that does not take up a whole truck. Typically weighing between 100 and 10,000 pounds, LTL shipments are loaded along with those of many other customers. All the shippers share the transportation charges, paying according to the space taken up by their cargo on the truck as well as the distance to their chosen point of delivery.
Small businesses benefit particularly from LTL shipping by saving on costs, but have to put up with relatively slower delivery as the shipments usually make several stops and packages may be transferred to other vehicles before they reach the final destination.
