FTL & LTL

FTL & LTL

While there are several options when it comes to shipping freight, FTL and LTL are the most commonly used ones. FTL or full truckload shipping is chosen when either the quantity of cargo is such that an entire truck is required for the shipment or the shipper wants a dedicated truck even for a partial load of cargo. Businesses often opt for FTL for partial loads when there is time crunch on the shipment and also when delicate or high-risk packages are being shipped.

The FTL shipment is not disturbed or transferred at any point during transit and stays all the way through on the same truck. There are no stops along the way, which ensures faster delivery. FTL shipping does cost more but offers many benefits.

LTL refers to less than truckload shipment. In this cost-effective option, shipments from multiple clients are carried in one truck.

When to go in for FTL?

We can help you make an informed decision about the shipping option for moving your goods so that they reach the destination on time, undamaged and safe. Here are the key things to consider when choosing between FTL and LTL –

  1. Size and weight of the shipment
  2. Type of shipment
  3. Shipping budget
  4. Desired date of delivery

FTL is the right choice for the fast delivery of fragile or temperature-sensitive cargo that is more than 10,000 pounds, with freight costs not being a major issue.
